Our Coffee
Mountain Shade only imports 100% Arabica coffee from the Quindio region of Colombia. The highlands of Colombia are some of the richest coffee growing regions in the world. Because of this, Mountain Shade has selected the Colombian highlands as our primary source for the delicious and aromatic Arabica bean.

The altitude at which coffee beans are grown is important to taste and smell. High altitudes and high quality coffee go hand-in-hand. The best tasting coffee tends to grow at the highest altitudes. Mountain Shade buys our coffee from only high altitude growers. In fact, Mountain Shade pays our growers a premium to hand sort only the highest quality beans from each harvest, insuring that our customers always receive the best coffee beans on the market.
Arabica coffee beans are considered a higher quality, better tasting bean than the other commercially grown coffee beans (robusta). The Arabica bean grows best in areas that offer light shade and higher altitudes. The Arabica plant typically takes between three to seven years to mature and produces small beautiful white flowers that smell much like jasmine. The flowers will eventually turn into the deep red fruits that bear the delightful coffee beans.
